1. QUEST TO LEARN - NYC PUBLIC SCHOOL - 2009.
I caught a ride on a big, visionary wave of a project to develop a school based on systems thinking and game design, called Quest to Learn. My boss at the time described my role as following along and keeping everyone playing nicely together.
2. MISSION LAB - IN-SCHOOL GAME DESIGN STUDIO- 2009.
At Quest to Learn, game design infused the curriculum. Mission Lab, was the in-house game design studio where teachers and designers developed games and game-like approaches used throughout the curriculum and school day.
Before starting at the new NYC public school Quest to Learn, you went to Mobile Quest. It was the training ground to help rising sixth graders get a feel for design and play. A day camp where you learned about systems and designed games using Nokia mobile phones. It was game designers and fifth graders working together.

5. HIRSHORN - GAME DESIGN WORKSHOP - 2011.
This short workshop was designed for the staff/workers at MOMA to help them incorporate game-based learning into their work and practice.
What do you do after you've designed a middle school based on systems learning and game design? You see if the adults want to get in on the action too! This was one of the first workshops we pitched and designed that brought Institute of Play game design ideas and tools to other teens and adults and began a successful TK year stint of IOP working as an independent studio beyond the auspices of Quest to Learn.
